"When it came time to put the finishing sound treatment [on] BOTA Studio I looked at many products out on the market, from pro-consumer to professional-grade products. Each product I looked at had the same issues; the look of the products was cheap and ugly looking. I was for sure not ready to have my professional recording studio look like my walls and ceiling grew bumps and pyramids. Another issue I ran into was the pro-consumer grade treatment only offered sound absorbing and that would affect the overall acoustics of the studio control room.
"I then found the MuteX™ product and the first thing I noticed was it being only 5.21mm thick! Secondly, the white sheets of MuteX™ offered better levels in absorbing sound than a 4” thick foam type product. I had obtained a few rolls of MuteX™ and proceeded to my untreated control room ceiling. Once the MuteX™ product was installed I noticed instantly my control room sounded tighter; lively with just the right amount of absorbence. I was thinking about stopping at that point but I had some reflection on the front wall due to the studio glass. I ordered a few more rolls and finished the front wall, PERFECT! I continued to treat my entire vocal booth with MuteX™ from floor to ceiling and what I got was a perfect sounding vocal booth. With all my vocal recordings I get the true tone of the vocalist and vocal microphone with NO room overtones. My live room is semi treated with MuteX™ on the ceiling and a half wall to obtain natural reverb but to also cut down on drum and cymbal overtones or standing waves. Again, PERFECT!
